Source: The list below is based on an earlier list, which was compiled to cover the whole of Adelaide Airport, and which formed an appendix to the first draft of the Patawalonga Creek Management Plan. Not all species on the list have necessarily been sighted yet at Patawalonga Creek, while other species have been added after having been observed at the Creek.

2003-4PCFS refers to sightings during the 2003-2004 Patawalonga Creek Fauna Survey conducted by Melanie Rees and Nick Crouch, with the assistance of volunteers and students from TAFESA Urrbrae Campus.

(***) denotes an introduced species.

Conservation Ratings:
EPBC = Environment Protection and Biodiversity Protection Act (Australia) ; SA = South Australia ; ML = Southern Lofty Botanical Region
E = Endangered: rare and in danger of disappearing from the wild in the short term
T = Threatened: likely to be either endangered or vulnerable but insufficient data for a more precise assessment.
V = Vulnerable: rare and in danger of disappearing from the wild in the long term
R = Rare: occurring infrequently, either locally abundant in a limited area or sparsely distributed over a wide area
K = status uncertain, but considered likely to be either rare, vulnerable or endangered
U = Uncommon: less common species of interest but not rare enough to warrant special protective measures
Q = Not yet assessed but flagged as being of possible significance
C = Common: not of particular importance
M = Migratory
