PORT ADELAIDE FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' DEMONSTRATION. A grand demonstration and athletic sports meeting in connection with the friendly Societies of Port Adelaide was held on the Alberton Oval on Easter Monday and proved, though to a certain extent an innovation, a success. In past years it has been customary for the Independent Order of Oddfellows to have a picnic as a separate order during Easter; but tbe managing committee, deeming wisely that union is strength, determined on a united demonstration this year, and it is proposed to make it an annual affair, the proceeds accruing from the sports to be used towards defraying the expenses of a recreation ground for the Port friendly societies. THE PORT DRUIDS. On Monday evening the Druids connected with Acorn Lodge, No. 20, Port Adelaide, held a concert in the local Town Hall to provide funds for decorations for a Gala Day, which is to take the form of a cycle sports meeting on the Jubilee Oval on November 15. A torch light procession of members of the Order in full regalia started from the Lodge's quarters in Church-street. The principal streets were paraded. The Riverside Brass Band headed the column, and Brothers J. Bennett, H. Dollman, and V. Mewitt acted as marshals. There was a splendid attendance at the concert, and those present seemed to be well satisfied with the programme. The following provided the entertainment: Hon. Secretary, brother T. H. ANCIENT ORDER OF DRUIDS. The annual grand lodge meeting of the South Australian United Ancient Order of Druids Friendly Society was held at the Rechabite Hall, Grote street on Tuesday, February I9. Bro. E. Lordtferds, Bros. J. Bennett, R. Evans, G. Dear, I. Kaske. On Monday evening a social was held in the lodge-room to welcome Bros. Bennett and Maley, who have returned from the war, and were both privates in the First Contingent. The Chairman (Bro. Hughes) extended a beauty welcome to them on behalf of the lodge. The toast of "Our guests" was proposed by P.A. Conlon, who was proud that our boys had done such good work in Africa and had earned such eulogies from the generals; the toast was received with musical honors. Bros.
